Hotel opinion

My family of 4 traveling to nyc mid nov. I have the following hotels lined up to pick from. Would like opinions on which is best suited for 2A 10yr old & 13 yr old. We will be doing the tourist things to be covered in a 3 day stay. Looking for convenience and comfort. Previously considered NJ, after posting was strongly advised aganst it. These are my next options. Really excited about the stay... really tired of trying to organize it i.e. hotels with convenience of public transport in mind. This is a side trip for us so budget is factored in. fastest and cheapest and quality is what we're lookng for not asking for much are we????
Hotels are in order of price least to most. all under $200.(Yes, it's true) except for financial dist.
LGA Marriott
Holiday Inn Express-Brooklyn
Marriott Upper East Side (92nd)
Marriott Financial Dist.
Once again thanks for all your opinons and help and responses. :)

Hi Ane. You might get a few replies on this thread, but you'll get a lot more if you repost with a title such as "Hotels in NY." This will catch the eye of our many NY experts. Good luck.

I am a frequent traveller to NYC and I would pick the Marriott Financial Center - I have stayed there quite a few times.
LGA is too far away and I'm not fond of staying in Brooklyn. In the financial area, you will be near Battery Park, Ground Zero, Wall Street, the ferries, etc and you can easily take the subway to other areas. There are also interesting museums to walk to. We recently visited the American Indian museum and that was terrific. Great deli within walking distance called Amish...many great restaurants as well. Love Il Giglio in the financial area

Do not stay outside Manhattan if that is where you are sight seeing.

In this order:
Marriott Financial District
Marriott UES
Holiday Inn Express

Remove the LaGuardia hotel from your list.

I agree staying near LGA will be a pain (and not very attractive). I don't know enough about the HI Express in Brooklyn, BUT the reviews on tripadvisor aren't encouraging and rooms sound really small so maybe not a good idea for 4.

While it's near the subway, it still ain't Manhattan.

That leaves the 2 Manhattan properties. I'd want to know the diff. in price b/w the 2. The Marriott Financial will be near some things you'll likely want to see (ferries, Chinatown, WTC site, etc.) While the Marriott on 92 st. is not really near typical tourist venues, it is brand new, with an indoor pool and not far from many of the museums in a non-touristy neighborhood.

So, what are your plans while in NYC and what is the price diff. b/w these 2 properties?

I stayed in the Marriot Financial District for work recently and loved it. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds, and some have views of the river. Most importantly, it was quiet enought to get a good night's sleep (which I never find in midtown). The subway is just a block away, so public transport should be easy.
