Hotel on South Beach
Help! I need suggestions for a hotel on South Beach.

Price range, perhaps? South Beach ain't cheap. How many in your party? Young/old? Partiers or not?

My husband had a convention at the Hilton Fountainbleau. It was absolutly georgous and if you have the means, I would definatly suggest it. Try to get an oceanview room.

The Tides (very posh - first choice) right on Ocean Drive or The Hotel on Collins. Both great properties. Think the Tides is classier. The Hotel has a nice outdoor restaurant....forget the name.

Many of the hotels on South Beach are the original art deco hotels which have been renovated. I still smell the old Miami Beach when I enter the lobbies and can't stand it. Apparently thousands of people don't mind. If this matters to you I would ask if it's new or newly renovated. i.e. Fountainblue has been around since Jackie Gleason. Loews is brand new.. I prefer new reproduction furniture to antiques. Just thought I'd pass it along in case it matters to you.

Loew's unfortunately gets really bad (or at the best mixed) reviews. Several hotels (Tides and the Hotel mentioned above) have been completely gutted and you won't notice any old issues.

Agreed, there are several out there that have been "freshened" rather than truly renovated.
