Hotel NYC for 2 moms & 2 daughters
 

We are looking to spend the weekend in NYC.
We are looking to stay in Times square area as we are going to the American Girl Doll Place as well as see a Broadway show.
They would also like to go to the Empire State and Ellis Island.
Price wise- we can afford either the HJ or Days Inn on 8th avenue.
Please advise where you think we should stay

That's a toss up. Rooms and hotel facilities at both places are pretty much identical and the location is the same. Toss a coin.

Both are on 8th Ave. a short walk to Times Square - Days is 3 blocks closer. Transpotation is fine from either location but a bit more convenient from the Days Hotel

I have stayed at both many times. :) (will be at the HOJO's tomorrow). They are very convenient to the C E subway and 1 long block to Times Square. Only a block and a half apart. They are the same set up and virtually identical, as mentioned HOJO is a little farther. Zdeli across from the Days Inn is great!! I would go with the cheapest, and keep checking prices- I've encountered plenty of price changes- easy to cancel and rebook. Also look at the Super 8, again easy to go with the cheapest. Have a great trip!!!

How about bidding on two rooms on Priceline? Since it is after the busy fall and Holiday season, you should be able to get a 4 star for under $100.

I just know you will love the American Girl Place. The one in Chicago is always packed.

FYI - In Chicago, you can often find tickets for the American Girl Theater show at the Half Price ticket outlets, one even located at Water Tower Convention Center, just a few steps away from American Girl Place. You might want to see if the same is true in NYC.

Check www.biddingfortravel.com and then bid on Priceline. You will get a nicer hotel at a better price.

What is all this raving about Priceline here? And how can someone claim that Melissa will get better rooms or better hotels than now for a better price. Unless I missed it, she hasn't told us what's she's paying. Maybe it's $39 a room. So how can someone say that Priceline will be better? That's what I'd call blind raving.

That seems like a fair price to me. When we were last in NYC we paid more than that. Our room was so tiny there was no place to put the suitcases on the floor and still get into bed.

Your girls won't care where you stay. And I'm sure your home is much nicer than any hotel you could find anyway.

The problem may be needing 2 beds??? Then Priceline is not a good option as many hotels in NYC only have one and NO guarantee you can get 2 with Priceline.

Last summer, many people reported getting the Courtyard by Marriott Midtown East on Priceline for $75; check Biddingfortravel.com to see if this is still happening - since it was the only 2.5* hotel in MTE, a bid was almost certain to get this specific hotel -- not a common posibility on PL! All the rooms have either 2 beds or a bed and sofabed. I was delighted with the location, atmosphere, cleanliness, staff attitude and comeptency, and the size of the rooms!

If those of you ranting about priceline would go back and read my post, I suggested Melissa bid on two rooms.

I would never put 4 people in a hotel room in NYC unless it was a large suite or had two bathrooms. That is why I mentioned priceline.

GoT, please settle down. Since the foursome is moms and daughters, many of us assumed that they would bid on two rooms, but still want two beds in each room.
