Hotel near Westlake Village California

We will be attending a wedding at Westlake Village Inn this summer and will be extending our trip to do some sightseeing. We prefer to stay at a hotel a little less expensive than the venue (and the reserved rooms are only for two days and we will be staying 5). What hotels are more budget friendly, recommended, and close by. Thank you.

We stayed at the Sheraton in Agoura Hills last time we went to a wedding at Westlake Village and found it quite acceptable.

It might depend on exactly what you have in mind for the other days whether you even want to stay in Westlake Village.

Check out places in Thousand Oaks, not a long drive and may be less $ with more things to around i.e. restaurants than Agoura Hills.

It occurs to me that the wedding may have arranged for a reduced group rate on the rooms which might be extended to include your additional days. Have you called and spoken to a management person to ask?

Thank you everyone. Rooms reserved for only 2 nights. We want to go to the Getty Museum, HallBOF Tolerance, and Pasadena. Thinking we should stay somewhere other than Westlake for part of the trip but don't know where.

What month in summer? If in the warmest months it can be nicer at the beach, though farther from Pasadena. What's in Pasadena (I like Pasadena, just wondering)?

Museum of Tolerance is near Beverly Hills on Pico.
You could stay in Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Westwood.
Pasadena is not close to these other two sites though.

What is your actual lodging budget for the additional nights? Budget friendly means different things to different people.

Hi - our trip is the end of June into the beginning of July. Price point is $170 or less per night. Guessing at that price, I am definitely outside the city. Any recommendations of where to stay that would be convenient to wedding at Westlake Village and site seeing?

July 4th is Tuesday. The weekend prior can be very popular, esp. anywhere near the beach.

I would start on a search engine like booking.com and see what you can find. You'll probably find more options in your budget in the San Fernando Valley. Woodland Hills to Van Nuys, but don't look very far north of Ventura Boulevard.

It's hard to find a place in the SF valley, and they're right, try to stay around or south of Ventura Blvd.

If you can stay the two nights at the Westlake Village hotel, and three at the other venue, then perhaps you might like Pasadena after all. I realize that it's far out there from the Getty Center, but heck everyplace is far here (time wise, on the freeway).

We've stayed at the Marriott Courtyard on Fair Oaks after a wedding and liked it a lot. It's in your budget, and looks like there are available rooms. It's in Old Town, very walkable, lots of nice restaurants around.

Check the reviews for the Best Western Plus Thousand Oaks Inn.

However, the Westlake Village area is really only convenient for visiting Malibu. If your sightseeing is going to be in Hollywood/ Los Angeles....you're better off staying closer in for those couple of nights and then moving out to Westlake for the wedding.

Tarzana Inn is clean & comfortable. You'd have a 15-20 min drive into Westlake Village and a 20 min drive down to the Getty Center. 35-45 mins to museum row/ Beverly Grove. But Pasadena would be 45-50 mins.

I can't really think of anyplace "convenient" to all of your listed activities, and with 3 days to fill you will probably be adding more to the itinerary.

The drive times I mention are dependent on avoiding all the traffic hours. It's very rough on the freeways from 7 to 10am on weekdays and from 4pm to 7pm as well. Saturday or Sunday morning would probably be your best time for trekking to Pasadena.
