HOTEL NEAR THE TRIBECA

Going to a wedding in October. It is at the Tribeca Rooftop. Located at Two Desbrosses St. Any suggestions on Hotels? Prices? Thank You

I assume this is New York?

You could try the Tribeca Grand. Or the hotels in Battery Park. Truthfully, being "close" is not that important in NYC since it is a tiny island and the cabs are cheap. As long as you don't end up on the UES or UWS, you'll be fine.

I too am going to a wedding in October at the Tribeca Rooftop. We are staying at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 102 North End Avenue which is about 1 mile from Tribeca Rooftop.

I stayed at this hotel in May and it is very good value for your $$'s. Price includes a marvelous breakfast and complimentary evening drink and snacks.

Getting around NYC is fairly easy. I might suggest that if your only reason for being down near Tribeca is the wedding, you may find it just as easy to stay in a more active area, like Midtown.

That said, you can usually get some decent weekend rates at some of the downtown hotels - the Marriott World Financial, for example.

The nearest hotel that I'm aware of is the Tribeca Grand. If your intention is to find somewhere walkable, that is probably your best bet. However, if you're equally willing to grab a cab, then I'd suggest you could stay in any area of Manhattan if a particular hotel or area is of interest.

BTW, Desbrosses Street is a very, very small street that I doubt few have ever heard of. The Tribeca Rooftop actually borders Canal Street and Hudson Street. It's a block from the West Side Highway and just across from the ramps to the Holland Tunnel.

Hey, tilly and Sandy -- are you two going to the same wedding?

SandyBrit Sep 1st, 2005 04:12 AM

Patrick:

That thought crossed my mind. It would be fun to meet a fellow fodorite at my son's wedding.

I'll wait and see if Tilly follows up on this post.

The Cosmopolitan is a newish budget hotel in Tribeca that gets decent reviews on tripadvisor. Not sure if it's any closer than the others mentioned.

Hi Tilly,

My son's is the next day, October 9 at 6:00 pm. I have visited the venue and it is a terrific place for a wedding. Their web site is wonderful.

Good luck on the hotel.

Sandy
