Hotel Near The Breakers?
We are attending a wedding Memorial Day weekend 2007 at The Breakers. Are there any hotels near the Breakers? We will not have a car. One hotel recommended was The Colony hotel? Any info about this hotel? Thanks in advance...just trying to figure out our options well in advance to try and get good rates.

The Breakers in Florida? I don't remember a hotel nearby, but there are lots to choose from that are a cab ride away.

The Breakers sort of sits off by itself, so it is a pretty good walk from anywhere.
The Colony is one of the furthest away but still on Palm Beach -- doubtful you'd want to walk in wedding attire. All the Palm Beach hotels are pricey, if that is an issue. You need to go to West Palm Beach for anything less. And Memorial Day weekend will not get you any real discounts. Why not rent a car -- one of the cheapest things in Florida? Meanwhile, you might want to check The Chesterfield (pretty luxurious) or the Palm Beach Historic Inn, a kind of quaint 1920's B&B, or the Plaza Inn, which is probably as close to a budget place as Palm Beach has. |
Go to google, enter the address of the Breakers (1 South County Road, Palm Beach, FL) get a map. Then, choose "business" and type in hotels. You'll see the locations of the nearest hotels. The Colony is 1.1 miles away.
If you are getting a good rate at the Breakers (with the wedding), I'd splurge and stay there. It IS the Breakers, after all! We were there yearly for events, but our division stayed at the Four Seasons. Check the 4S for good rates. There used to be a beachfront Hilton next to the 4S, but it's been changed I believe. |
As others have said, there's really no other hotel within a walk of the Breakers. The Breakers is not really within walking of "downtown" Palm Beach. (they have a service that takes you to town).
The Colony is a nice hotel that is very near Worth Ave. in downtown PB. It would help to know what you're trying to accomplish in your hotel search. Are you looking for some place cheaper? (if yes, what price were you offered at the Breakers?) Here's the link to the hotel list on tripadvisor. If you just don't want to stay at the Breakers and don't need to be on the beach, the Chesterfield that Neo mentioned is a nice place. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...h_Florida.html |
I am sorry-
I should have better explained the situation. When I wrote my original post, I was unaware of special rates for wedding guests at The Breakers. So yes, we were looking for some cheaper options. But it seems we can book at a rate of $295, so I think we will do that. Might as well stay there if we can!!! Thank you all for your help!! |
