My sugestion is to stay across the street from the airport at Sheraton Harbor Island and Marina and ask for a waterfront view room (tell them it is a special occasion.) Wonderful view of San Diego Bay sunset, and it feels like a resort with the Marina on the airport side surronded by water.No problem with airport noise and there is a free Sheraton shuttle that runs every 20 minutes or a $6.00 taxi one way. Sheraton discount with AAA is $140.00 Here is a map and the website.

You can have dinner at the hotel restaurant which is quite nice or you can stroll down the waterfront to Island Prime and eat alfresco over the water.

Actually - for your conveniece - and the fact you are only staying one night I think IJAR's suggestion is spot on. If you can get a view room - you look across at Coronado also - and can see some of the big Navy ships.

Also looking at Holiday Inn Express Downtown at $102.00. Any comments on that one.It has free airport shuttle and Breakfast.

I agree with 1JAR. I was about to post the same thing, then I saw his post!

Wherever you dine, make a reservation asap. It can be difficult to get into restaurants on Valentine's, and many have a "special" menu for the Big Romantic Dinner.

Just Booked Holiday Inn Downtown 7 th ave for $102.00 airport shuttle and breakfast included so we will be downtown and we arrive at 2:20 PM so check in is at 3 and we will eat early since 3 PM SanDiego time will be 7 PM our time because we are comming from East Coast Canada. Thanks for all the help. We are really looking forward to seeing SanDiego and then on to Hawaii.
