Hotel Near Rockefeller Center

Does anyone know of a good hotel located near Rockefeller Center, within a few blocks or safe walking distance? Also how big, on average are city blocks in New York?

Thanks,
Shannon

On average, 20 city blocks= 1 mile

Avenues are about twice on long, so on average, 10 avenues= 1 mile

Also, why not use Priceline or Hotwire for your NYC hotel... u can save a bundle.

You can check out my database of prior wins for Priceline and Hotwire, as well as prices paid:

To clarify the previous posting, 20 north-south blocks equal one mile. About 10 east-west blocks equal one mile.
As for hotels, you don't mention a price range. There are a lot of hotels within walking distance of Rockefeller Center.

Thanks for the info. I'm actually going to be booking through expedia.ca (I'm in Canada). There are tons of options for hotels at great savings, just trying to decide which one to pick

The Algonquin is a lovely old hotel, but it is about as formal and as stuffy as you can find!

Haha..thank you Edna. I have heard good things about the Sofitel across the street. Anyone know anything about it? Or perhaps make a suggestion for a hotel.

Shannon:

Does your list have the "Hotel MUSE" listed? It is a wonderful, small, euro-style hotel 46th between 6th and Bdwy. Great location, close to Rock. Center

I would look at www.quikbook.com for hotels in that area.
