Hotel near Penn Station
 

We are coming into Penn Station and want to stay nearby. Thinking about the Hampton Inn on W. 31st. Anyone have an opinion on that one or any suggestions for another?

We liked the Red Roof Inn, at 6 W 32. It's part of the Apple Core group, very reasonable rates, newly renovated, pleasant staff.

I am a fan of the Four Points by Sheraton at 25th and 7th. It's a 5-7 minute walk from Penn Station and a much more interesting neighborhood than the immediate Penn Station area.

Ditto on the Red Roof!

and.....why would you want to stay nearby Penn???? It is a fast food, mass transit Hub!,,,well there is Macy's,,,,but that would not be a good reason to stay nearby.

agree w/bmw and mike. unless you have a specific reason to stay in that neighborhood, make efforts to stay elsewhere. it's a terrible area. i always found a good rate and the un millenium plaza across town.

Agree - the area around Penn Station is primarily business, dreary at night, has few eating optins you'll want - and most anyplace eles in the city is more pleasant (exept Times Square itself).

Maybe they're getting in really late at night, or have an early train on their day of departure.

The block with the Red Roof Inn is in the middle of Manhattan's "Koreatown" and has several Korean restaurants.

Between the two, I'd much rather stay in Times Square (even right ON Times Square) than in the Penn Station area.
