Hotel near Houston space centre
 

I am flying into Houston and want to drive to the space centre(it will be late afternoon/early evening) and stay overnight and 'do' the space centre the next day. We then plan to drive to San Antonio. Can anyone recommend any hotels near the centre please?

What price range are you looking at? There is a wide range of hotels in the area....everything from Comfort Inn to the Hilton.

If you prefer a particular chain, go to their website and see if they are in the area and then we can tell you if he property is okay or not. To be honest, however, most of the hotels in the area are fine IMO. Even the older ones have been revamped in recent years.

I believe the area of Houston closest to Space Center is called Webster -- plenty of chain motels nearby on the "strip". Downtown Houston is not really that close if you are only stopping there to visit SCH.

I can't really help you with specific hotel recommendations, as I live in Houston and don't pay attention to what hotels are near Space Center Houston, but this site might help you:

Laurieb is correct that the area nearest the Space Center is Webster (my hometown). You can also check under Clear Lake City.

Really no big need to stay near the Space Center. You can stay anywhere in Houston you like, and just drive down there next morning. It's only about 30 minutes from downtown, and you'll be going against traffic in the morning.

But like others have said, plenty of hotels all around. You can also try hotels near Hobby Airport as well.
