Hotel near ESPN Zone
Any hotels near the ESPN Zone in DC and also what is that area called? Preferably a Marriott. Thanks.
|
That's Downtown. There is a Marriott close by. Check the Marriott website.
|
I think the closest Marriott is called Marriott Metro Center, but I'm not sure.
|
How far is the Marriott Metro Center from the American History Museum and also from the Redskins Stadium? Are either of them walkable or easy to get to by the Metro that I see is right near the hotel. Thanks.

The Marriott at Metro Center (12th & H NW; https://www.marriott.com/hotels/trav...-metro-center/) and the Courtyard Washington Convention Center (9th & F NW; https://www.marriott.com/hotels/trav...ention-center/) are both a few blocks away from the ESPN Zone (11th & E NW).

"How far is the Marriott Metro Center from the American History Museum and also from the Redskins Stadium?"
You can walk to the museum and take Metro to the game. Check www.hopstop.com for walking and metro directions and www.wmata.com for metro directions. You can often just put the place (rather than an address - ex., washington monument) in the travelling to or from section of www.wmata.com |
Redskins Stadium is accessible via either the Orange or Blue Lines, but except on Game Days your best bet is the Morgan Boulevard station on the Blue Line (about a 26 minute ride from Metro Center) - it's about a one-mile walk from there. See http://www.redskins.com/fedexfield/directions.jsp for more information.

The Smithsonian "National Museum of American History" is closed for renovations, but they expect to reopen in the fall.
|
I saw that they were closed for renovations but am hoping it will be opened by november.
|
If the folks at the Smithsonian are to be believed, it'll be open by November, since, as "Anonymous" said, they're estimating a fall 2008 re-opening (http://americanhistory.si.edu/about/renovations.cfm).
Then again, renovations were originally scheduled to finish by this summer (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...041201278.html), so we'll see if this newer deadline isn't quite so flexible... :-P |
Marriott Metro Center and the JW are both very close. There's also the Penn Quarter M Courtyard, which is easily walkable.
|
"The National Museum of American History, closed for extensive renovations for almost two years, will reopen Nov. 21, officials announced yesterday."
From today's Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...073001510.html) |
Thanks! We'll just make it for the opening.
