Hotel Near Airport
My wife are spending two nights in the historic district and in order to save some money are considering staying 2 nights near the airport (less expensive). We will want to visit Patriots Point/Mt Pleasant. Is that a problem drive (Friday & Saturday nights at the hotel)?

You might want to re-post indicating what city you'll be visiting.

I have relatives in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, but somehow I don't think that's the Mt. Pleasant you are speaking of. Please give us a clue--what airport, what city, what state?
I agree with the idea of reposting, where you name the city and the airport. |
He's talking about Charleston, but I can't answer his question, really, only that as with Savannah, if there is any way at all you can swing staying in the historic district, it is worth the extra it will cost!

We are traveling (driving) to Charleston, SC and are staying the first 2 nights in the historic district. We hope to spend a couple of days visiting the sights at Patriots Point and are considering staying 2 nights near the airport in order to save a few dollars. We will be there during a Friday and Saturday. My question is whether the traffic, parking or driving distance is a major problem.

Airport area to Mt. Pleasant is 20 minutes. 526 East takes you right to 17, where you can head to Isle of Palms, Sullivans Island etc. in a few more minutes. Traffic should not be a problem other than perhaps 5 to 7 on Friday night on 526 but once you get past the I-26 exit, it should be smooth sailing. Don't know about parking but not sure where you're looking to park either.

There is absolutely no compelling reason to stay by the airport including cost. As birgator posted, it is at least 20 minutes to Mt. Pleasant and then another 10 minutes downtown.
Check the Andrew Pinckney Inn. The airport is in the city of North Charleston which is another city and has little redeeming qualities. |
