FYI - There's no Illinois board, but you can choose Illinois as a search topic. Go to:
http://www.fodors.com/forums/threadselect.jsp?fid=1
and you'll see that all the posts for the US are there, with no designation as to which state was chosen.
In any event, there may well be another Abbey Pub in Illinois besides the one in Chicago.
But good detective work Budman!

The Abbey Pub is up in one of the neighborhoods so there aren't going to be any real hotels up there although you might be able to find a b & b. I assume you are going to see a show there, perhaps it would be a better idea to stay a little more central and take a cab for that night?

The Abbey is a little ways off of the 'beaten path', but not a bad cab ride away from many of the neigbohoods. I'm taking a guess here in thinking you'd like an interesting area--in which case i'm going to suggest a little B&B in Wicker Park. I think it's called the Wicker Park B&B--just google it. This way you can take in a rock show at the Empty Bottle or Double Door, too, if so inclined. And, TONS of restaurants. One i love is called Bite, it's connected to the Empty Bottle. You will have to cab around some, though.

Abby pub is great, I used to live over in that neighborhood and know that you won't really find lodging over there, and that neighborhood, while decent enough to live in, doesn't offer a lot for tourists. I suggest that you find a more central lodging location and take a taxi (be warned though they you might end up paying approximately $20 for the ride).
