Hotel Monaco Portland, Ore

What's the construction situation like that is in front of the Hotel Monaco? Do you hear the construction from the rooms? thanks

I stayed there 6 weeks ago---great hotel. I noticed the construction but asked for a room facing the side of the hotel where there wasn't any and it was not a problem. The hotel is so nice I'd seriously consider it.

Thank you, laurelee, that is helpful. Did you stay in a regular room versus a suite? I was wondering how large the regular rooms are? I've heard a few say they are small.

We must have stayed in a suite. There were two queen beds separated with these sliding glass doors and then a pull out couch in another section. We had huge windows that faced the front of the hotel.
The immediate area around the hotel is nothing special. I remember being a bit disappoined when we drove up and once inside I was really impressed.
Anything else--let me know..

Thanks! Was it easy to get around by walking?

The Monaco is a fantastic location for walking around the city. Very centally located for all the shopping/restaurants and such. The hotel has an underground valet, which is nice if it is raining. But unless you are venturing out of the city, you are close enough here to walk to all the main sights.

Even though we live here, we have stayed at the hotel several times for events. The rooms we have had have all been very large, with the sliding door to separate the bedroom area from the rest.

Thanks, mms -- think I'll go ahead and book at the Hotel Monaco.

I agree-very easy to walk around-you aren't far at all from the areas you'll want to be. Enjoy the wine reception in the late afternoon and ask for a goldfish for your room!
