Hotel Monaco, New Orleans

Looking for some recent feedback on the Hotel Monaco in New Orleans. I've searched and most posts are older. Has anyone had a recent stay and if so how was it?

How is the walk to the Quarter? Would a cab be wise late at night be wise? It appears to be close on the map, be those can be mis-leading.
Thanks!

My husband and I went last month from May 19-22. It was very nice. Very clean, very comfortable beds and we got a special online price. Look online and they may offer (depending on the dates) a pay 21 days in advance and get a discount. I believe our room was $160 per night and I thought it was worth it.

It is a 5 minute walk to th French Quarter and we walked back and forth several times a day. It seemed very safe also. We never worried - lots of tourists walking around too.

The only issue with the hotel was the water. We had hot coming out of both faucets. We had to be moved to another room, which was done quite quickly.

The service was nice but not super friendly. And my only other observance was that we ordered ice for the room and it was delivered in a plastic bag - not a bucket so I had to put it in the sink. Very weird for a fairly upscale hotel.

One more good thing - they have Starbucks coffee in the lobby every morning as well as a coffee make set up in your room. They also have wine and massages every night at 5pm. We were always out in the afternoon so we did not partake but the morning coffee was perfect!!!!

Have a great time!
