Hotel May 4th
We will be in Vegas for 1 night May 04-2007 , 4 adults want 1 room. That is a Friday night ( most expensive) but no other options . Looking at room on the strip $150.00 to $200.00 max .
Will the prices be apt to go down closer to the date or be more expensive as compared to booking now? Warren |
From what I've experienced, prices go up the closer you get to the travel date. Usually they go up significantly on weekends. The only exception to this may be if you used priceline, but I don't have any real experience with that.

Many hotels charge extra for more than two adults in a room. At one point, Mandalay Bay charged $35 per person per night for each additional adult for example. Some hotels allow up to four adults per room at no additional charge. Be sure to inquire directly with the hotel before you decide which hotel to stay at.
If you will have a car, you might consider the Residence Inn on Dean Martin Drive. They are offering a 2-bedroom unit for $179.00 for May 4. The hotel is less than 3 minutes to Mandalay Bay/Luxor by car. Breakfast is included in that rate as well. |
Good advice from boston guy. A Friday Night in prime Vegas time (fall and spring) is not likely to go down in price. I would go for the 2 bedroom unit myself with 4 adults.
|
Sorry, advice for 2 bedroom was from vegaslocal.

I agree the Residence Inn on Dean Martin is a good choice. There is also a new Courtyard and a new Holiday Inn Express near there just off of the Russell Road exit off I15. The Holiday Inn Express has rooms for $145 for May 4th with two Queen Beds and includes breakfast.

I just checked and see The Stratosphere for $139.92 for standard room and delux room for $152.68
Any comments. We need to go from there to the Bellagio for a show that evening. Any comments good or bad would be appreciated. Warren |
Wow that weekend is high, must be a notorious May convention heading into town or something. Sahara is a better choice than Stratosphere and a BIT better location in my opinion, same price.
Definitely book soon, that looks like a bad week....book something cancellable if you think something better might pop up. |
I wouldn't want to stay at the Stratosphere, it isn't closer to the Bellagio than the hotels off of Russell Road and gets very mixed reviews on Trip Advisor.
|
Don't stay at the Stratosphere! The area is horrible and it's about as far away from Bellagio as you can be without staying downtown. Try Paris, Flamingo, Monte Carlo or even the Tropicana - they have lower rates and also usually have AAA and other discounts and they are all much closer to Bellagio.

Well I booked the Travelodge at Harmon and Las Vegas Blvd S. It is right near the Bellagio where we need to go for a show that night. I can cancel with no charge up to May 01 so I guess that will have to do for now. It is $135.00 +tax so $147.15 .
Thanks everyone for your feedback. Warren |
That Rodeway gets pretty bad reveiws on Trip Advisor http://las-vegas-hotels.tripadvisor....as_Nevada.html

I stayed at the Sahara 3 1/2 years ago, and agree it's a better locattion than the Strat. Make sure you get a room in the better tower (I forgot the name of it), that has rooms with their own themostat. I did like the restaurants at the Strat better though. I personally would still advise one of the off strip properties with 2 bdr units.

warrsher, I think you have made a mistake. The Travelodge that you booked is a 'last resort', pardon the pun. It is a dump. Please cancel and choose another hotel.

Hi Vegaslocal
I appreciate that and agree. We are going to book one of the big hotels recommended by Foderites and just pay the price. Unfortunately for us May 4th is our only night and we have tickets for Cirque du Soliel that night. Thanks again. Warren |
