hotel in scottsdale
We are planning a trip to Scottsdale around the end of Feb. and are looking for a hotel
in the $100-$175 range. We are considering
Embassy Suites or Summerfield Suites. Has anyone stayed at either of these hotels? It is for 2 adults so we really do not need a suite. Any recommendations for other hotels?

Check out the residence inn by marriott. The prices are good and it offers comfort. It's like a studio apartment and perfect for those nights when you just want to stay in and relax.

For those kinds of hotels (Embassy, Residence Inn, etc) the #1 question you need to answer is how old is the hotel.
This class of hotels catrers to families and as such the rooms take an absolute beating. Since they're budget-ish hotels, the money spent on maintaining them is not what you'd see at an upper class business hotel.

If you find a Summerfield or ES or RI which is only a year or two old, you can't go wrong.
The ones that are 8-10 years old can be almost seedy.

BTW, hotels in north Scottsdale tend to be newer. Look around the map, check the list of hotels, then just call the hotel and ask how old it is.

There is a new Embassy Suites halfway between Phoenix and Scottsdale...It is located on Paradise Parkway, south of Cactus Road and west of Tatum Blvd....might have it on an Embassy Suite website. Just today I heard the rooms were $86 which includes a sensational full breakfast. It would be a wonderful location for getting around the valley and the parking lot is huge.

We have stayed at that ES on PV Parkway, its nice and happens to be convenient to family nearby for us but the PV Mall is right there with movie theaters and lots of restaurants nearby. The hotel's breakfast buffet is fantastic and the restaurant there is good as well. It is also right next to a golf course if thats what you are into. Winter rates typically run +/-$140 so if you find something cheaper, great!

I'm with Lita - go to biddingfortravel.com and then name your price. I was able to get a resort hotel for $75 and a 3* for *58. The resort was in Palm Desert (Renaissance) and the Marriott in Scottsdale (Old Town). Good Luck!
