Hotel in Savannah, Ga.
 

My wife and I are going to Savannah to celebrate our 50th anniversary. Does anyone know of a really good hotel in the historic district of Savannah?

I would recommend checking TripAdvisor for the most popular, highest rated, best reviews...

Not in the historic district, Mansion of Forsythe is probably the very nicest place to stay, and I've seen some terrific rates for that place recently. It's not really in walking distance to the historic district either, but you could take taxis or pedi-cabs everywhere you want to go. But, this is also the sort of hotel where you could spend your entire visit enjoying the hotel.

the Mansion on Forsyth looked really nice when we wandered around in it during our visit to Savannah in November. however, we stayed at the Westin across the river and absolutely loved it. we had a room up on the 16th floor with a great view, the Spa was fabulous and it was a lot of fun taking the little "water taxi" (looked like a miniature tugboat) over and back to the historic district. i would return in a second.

Try the Kehoe House...super-luxe but has all the charm of a romantic inn. I believe it's managed by the same people who own Mansion on Forsyth.

We stayed at the Westin Savannah last June or July. We weren't bowled over. The service was off the entire trip. The room was not properly cleaned for our arrival, the hair dryer and in room safe didn't work.

The Westin is on a separate island across the river from the tourist traps on River Street.
