Which NYC airport for 14th St? Hotel at airport or Manhattan?
1-night business trip. Boston-LGA is more than twice BOS-JFK or EWR. ($840 vs $360) so it seems either JFK or EWR.
Any easy options to 14th st other than taxi? If arriving in evening, stay at airport hotel or near AM business address on 14th St? Thanks

I would stay in the city also.
You can take an airport bus from either JFK or EWR into the city - they stop in midtown at Grand Central, Penn Station and Port Authority. NYCAirporter.com
You can stay at a hotel in midtown or near 14th St, your choice. From any of the above locations, you can take a taxi or subway - no more than 2 or 3 stops to 14th St.
Others will tell you about the AirTrain. I've never taken it so I can't help with that. To me, the bus is easy and convenient.

EWR is just fine for the west side or anywhere below 59th Street. If it's cheaper, fly there. If you take the train in, you'll come into Penn Station and can take a taxi or subway from there, by far the easiest and cheapest option.
My only advice: Do NOT under any circumstances take a regular taxi from EWR. It will add at least $20 to $25 onto your costs. Book a car service in advance and meet outside baggage claim (takes about 10 minutes usually). This works nicely from EWR, but the tunnel toll beyond the cost of the car service is horrific ($13) and is paid either way with a taxi even though cars only pay on the NJ side.

Train (Acela) might be best bet, depending on where you start from. It's a 3:20 trip from 128 station to Penn Station. Depending where you start from, that often matches or beats travel time via plane, and certainly is more aggravation-free. Plenty of reasonable hotel choices between Penn Station (33rd St) and 14th.

I would stay in Manhattan.
I faced a similar situation for a last-minute trip in February and used EWR (it was almost half the price of LGA). Thanks to helpful Fodorites I knew to take the AirTrain at the airport to the train station and got a NJTransit train to Penn Station as Doug mentions above. It was easy peasy. I then caught a subway to a stop near our hotel; I would totally do this again if the opportunity arose. The only downside would be if you had a lot of luggage and for one night you probably won't.

I agree that Acela (even at this date) is probably cheaper than $364 and would regardless be a better option than flying from Boston.
Definitely stay in Manhattan. There's a W hotel on Union Square, and if you can afford it, that's probably the closest hotel to your meeting.

I didn't realize you were coming from Boston.
Those airfares sound really expensive. When are you flying?
I agree that the Acela or even regular Amtrak might be a better option.
For relatively short flights, when you factor in getting to and from the airports, it often amounts to the same travel time and it's sometimes easier to just take the train.

I always do train from Boston. time is the same as plane - since there are no security lines and lone check-in/waits - and you go center city to center city.
Those plane fares look awful.
And if there is any bad weather or delay the train is much more reliable (I have been stuck in Boston overnight when a late April storm grounded planes - and I was too late for the last train).

Train from Boston takes you city center to city center. By the time you add time for security at airports plus travel to/from the airport etc., you can take the train for about the same time.
If it's a business trip and co. Is paying, stay near your meeting in Mnahattan. Is it east or west side on 14th st.,?
