hotel in NYC around $150.00 daily?

I have a friend who comes in from CA 2x a year and stays in the city. She works in the 20's and would prefer to stay sort of near that area. Anyone have a suggestion for accomodations maybe a little higher, but definitely under $200?

It depends on the time of year.

Thanksgiving to New Years, you'll have trouble finding the Motel Hell for that amount.

In January, you can usually find a top end hotel for around $200.

What area in NYC are you refering to?

Priceline is the place to get the best value. Check Biddingfortravel.com for info. Also check hotel websites for specials and call hotels and ask about specials (many times they don't volunteer the info, so you have to ask). Many of the prices found on the bookings sites (like expedia and hotels.com), can be matched or beat by dealing directly with the hotel.

Check out ParkSouthHotel.com, you may be able to get a decent corporate rate by calling them. Quikbook sometimes has this hotel under $200, too.

Also try the Inn on 23rd-should be within her price range of a single person and you get breakfast.

Good suggestions. I would also have said the Park South and Priceline, depending on the length of her stays. The Chelsea Lodge on west 20th is in a brownstone and it's like having an apt. Gets good reviews on tripadvisor but no personal experience.
