Hotel in November

Four - six girlfriends are coming to my favorite place, NYC. We are coming by train for one quick overnight, Saturday to Sunday
We always stay at the Marriott Marquis but they only stay 3 to a room. NOt sure why since they offer 2 double beds.
We like the theater district. Any ideas for a hotel.
We would like a reasonable rate. I tried Doubletree suites but they are full. Any recommendations. Priceline is not an option since they only guarantee 2 to a room. As always thanks for your help

Did you talk to the Marquis - or just use the website? I beleive they do allow 4 to a room with 2 queen beds. But they definitely won;t take more - so perhaps do 2 threes.

It will make a big difference whether you're 4 or 6. The Doubletree will sleep 6 with 2 double beds in bedroom and sofabed for 2 in living room. PHONE them.

Hampton Inn Times Square North and Hilton Garden Inn both have rooms with 2 queen beds for 4 but 6 becomes a problem.

Good point from mclaurie. Phone the hotel directly, NOT the 800#. Often there are rooms when both the website and the 800# show no availability.

Unless you're actually going to the theater, I don't understand why you'd insist on staying in the theater district. There are lots of suite hotels that would accomodate you whether 4 or 6, but they're not in Times Square.

Any of the 1 bedroom suites in the affinia.com hotels would work YOu could book one for 4 people and if you turn out to be 6, just pay extra and have them sleep on the sofabed. The Affinia Dumont has 1 bedroom suites with 2 queen beds and a sofabed. The Shelburne Murray Hill has some renovated 1 bedrooms with 2 beds, a sofabed and 2 bathrooms.

It will be four of us. We do plan on going to the theater and would like to stay in the theater district for that reason. I know it is silly but I am comfortable in NYC walking, subway, etc during the day. But not so comfy at night. I will call marriott marquiz, any other suggestions. Thoughts on the Westin.
Where would people suggest we go for drinks after theater on saturday night.
Thanks for all your help.

I don't know the Westin, but the Doubletree Times Square suites is a very comfortable hotel and would be good for 4 of you. Call them too, directly, and see if there might be something.

After the four of you women get done sharing a bathroom will there be time to go out drinking? :D

Divine Bar, 54th between 8th and Broadway. If you're over 30 or so. Younger than that? I have no idea.

poolqueen822 Sep 20th, 2008 02:26 PM

We are definitely over 30. I will put the timer in the bathroom because we won't miss any of the good stuff. What kind of food do they have?

NeoPatrick Sep 20th, 2008 02:37 PM

Food? I was just giving the recommendation for after theatre drinks. They do have snacks, but Divine Bar isn't really a restaurant.

What show are you seeing?

mclaurie Sep 21st, 2008 04:35 AM

The Westin is fine and newer than the Marriott but I still think the 2 queen beds at the Hampton Inn TS or Hilton Garden Inn TS will be more comfortable for 4 vs. 2 double beds at the others, despite the fact that those hotels are not as fancy. There's also the W Times Square has some double doubles. Blue Fin at the W hotel is nice for drinks and the food there is also good. Drinks at the lobby bar of the Algonquin hotel is very nice or at the trendier Royalton hotel across the street.
