Hotel in New York in the Mid-50s

Does anyone have a recommendation for a hotel in New York City in the mid-50s area? Budget is between $400 and $500 per night.

Thanks.

Prices fluctuate by date so it depends on when but
On the west side, Michelangelo, the London, the Blakely
On the east side, San Carlos, the Kimberly, the Benjamin

I have not stayed here but have spoken to pleased guests...as long as the price is in line with your budget, you could put this one in the running.

People will tell you that it is very far from the subway, but having lived around the corner for years, I would not agree....subways are about an 8 minute walk so should not be a deterrent unless there is a moblity "issue."

This is but one of many options that you can find in the area.

To pay anything close to $400 for the Beekman would be highway robbery.

It would help to know how many you are - assume you are 2 and can share a double bed? And what your preferences are for busier or more elegant - trdtional vs modern.
