Hotel in New York City
Hellow. <BR>Can anyone recommend an inexpensive, but secure and well located hotel in New York City not far from Moma, Guggenheim etc.?
|
What do you call inexpensive?
|
Less than $100/night would be inexpensive.

I've had the Habitat recommended to me, although I've never stayed there. Its recently renovated, centrally located, and seems quite inexpensive. I think the cheapest rooms have shared bath.

I wish I could recommend something, but I think you'll have a tough time finding a place under $100 in that area (i.e, off Fifth Avenue in the 50s, 60s and 70s). As you look, keep in mind that you have to add 13.25% tax, plus an additional $2 per night tax.

Howwad is right, but also remember that Manhattan is very easy to get around, both by walking and public transportation (the subways are fast and safe, at least until around 10PM, when they're busy; the buses are slower, but you get to view the city). So if you have to stay elsewhere it won't be a problem to get to the museums. You could try the Murray Hill Inn on E. 30th St. Rooms are under $100, but have shared bathroom. There's cable TV and phone in the rooms, no elevator. Clean and safe neighborhood, convenient to transportation. People I know who've stayed there consider it fine and secure. www.murrayhillinn.com
