Hotel in Miaimi
Please can anyone tell me how to get a cheap rate for Miami hotels(south Beach) for July this year. I am mainly interested in Doubletree Beachcomber or Loews or Delano.
Are there any reliable websites I could use to book my hotel. Many thanks |
Cheap rate at delano? Good luck.
Chic hotels not as pricey: Raleigh (fab pool) The Hotel (awesome rooftop pool) The Townhouse - a bit further from south beach... |
Prices should be lower in July. (You DON'T want a rooftop pool in July.) You could try bidding on Priceline for a resort in South Beach. The hotels listed on biddingfortravel are
Resort Loews Miami Beach National Hotel Sagamore If you don't know about bidding, read biddingfortravel or betterbidding. You might also try a website like kayak or sidestep that scan lots of websites for best prices. |
thankd for your responses. As I would be coming iver to Miami first time, would you be able to tell me if Ocean drive is better or Collins Drive? Another question is how is the Bal harbour area? is it far awat from the beaches? If so what is the best mode of transport?

If you look at this map (or any map)
http://www.miamibeach411.com/maps_south_beach.html you'll see in the heart of South Beach, Ocean Drive is <i>on</i> the beach while Collins is a block away. But north of sobe, Collins is actually on the beach. So it depends on what you define as "better" and where on Collins you mean. Ocean Drive is mostly very busy, lively and often noisy. The Bal Harbour area is beautiful. It is less trendy/young. There is the most beautiful (and expensive) shopping mall in America (imo) in Bal Harbour with shops like Chanel, Tiffany, Neiman Marcus (high end dept store). There are a number of hotels right on the beach there. The shopping center is across the street. You really need to look at a map. There are beaches all along the coast. Bal Harbour is just north of South Beach (and there's an area between the 2 known as mid beach with some very large hotels and apartment buildings. Perhaps you should tell us exactly what you're looking for and we can help lead you to the right area. Just be aware Miami in July is <i>very</i> hot. As far as transport, some people manage to avoid a car rental staying in South Beach since there are so many bars and restaurants in a tight area. There are a few places in Bal Harbour (including in that mall) but there's not as much choice within walking distance. |
I would like to stay in a hotel which is on the beach, preferably in South Beach. At the moment, I am getting a good deal on Seaview Bal Harbour, but I am not sure if it is close to the beach. Or how can I go the South Beach from there? July is hot, I realise that but that is not a big problem.

I don't know the hotel, but read reviews here which should tell you what you need to know to make an informed decision.
http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR...r_Florida.html The hotel appears to be on the beach but a 20-30 ride to South Beach. One person said they used the bus, another said you need a car. If you're looking for South Beach vacation, it's not at this place. I'm still not sure I know what you're looking for or your budget, but the Eden Roc is a big, full service hotel on the beach (in mid beach) north of South Beach but a lot closer than Bal Harbour. They should have some good prices in July. |
Thanks for your reply.I am looking for a child-friendly hotel with a swimming pool, close to the main beach and within $100 - $125 maximum.

Suddenly everything changes. You will pay a high premium to stay in South Beach and many of the hotels are not very kid friendly. Also, the smaller hotels will have very small pools, not usually what a kid wants. So you're going to have to make some compromises. You could stay midbeach in a large resort type hotel ON the beach with a big pool area, but you might need a car. A lot also depends on the age of the child. I would guess the Eden Roc would be a really good option and you could probably find it at close to your budget in July. The resort hotels that Priceline uses in MIAMI BEACH (vs. South Beach) would all be good (the Eden Roc is one).
I suggest you repost your question and ask for what you write in your last reply. There are also a lot of previous threads on this topic (although none at the price you require) if you do a text search. Depending on how long you're staying and what services you need, renting a condo might be a better option for you. There are many apartment buildings right on the beach or across the street that have nightly and weekly rentals. If you don't need daily maid service and a hotel restaurant, this could be much more practical for you. VRBO.com (vacation rental by owner) has a number of listings for Miami. You could also consider Ft. Lauderdale. |
I would check out miamiboutiquehotels.com for a great guide to the Miami hotels. Beware, if you want to truly experience Miami, you should stay in South Beach. Bal Harbour is an upscale suburb like section of of South Beach, still in Miami Beach, but doesn't have the same vibe. Not really a vacation destination. Also, it's about 20 minutes (in good traffic) away from the center of South Beach.
I can vouch for Loews and Delano, but there are more reasonably priced options in South Beach. Also, Collins is just one block west of Ocean, so the ocean is just a minute or two further away. This can really effect price too. But try to stay south of 20th St in SOBE. Have fun and enjoy that hot, Miami weather. :) |
I am getting a standard room in Loews hotel in South Beach for $160 per night, is it a good deal? I have to book soon to get this deal.
Thanks again for all your comments. |
That's a great deal, I'd take it. The Loews is a great property.
