Hotel in FL near YANKEES-fish series

Thinking about heading down to FL to see the Yankees eat a fish dinner. Any hotel suggestions within walking distance of the stadium?

All of the hotels will be pretty empty...you should have your choice of places to stay.

And you can buy some 30 second commercials really cheap on Fox TV since nobody's planning to watch the World Series this year.

P.S. Gotta hand it to the Yankee$, Aaron Boone was money money money well spent!

Choking on sour grapes Clark?

The Yankees won because that's what they do. Boston lost yet again because, well . . .

Like my dear old (90 next year!) Dad always said, "The Yankees are the BEST team...that money can buy."

Judyrem Oct 17th, 2003 05:04 AM

Fish rule, those damn Yankees did it again.....Austin, your dear old Dad was right IMO. Judy :-(

Call it want you want, but say it again America- B O R I N G.

The unfortunate thing is the World Series will not live up to the excitement and drama of the playoffs. Yankees in 4

Gekko...You beat an equally matched club with a manager that thinks life is like a box of chocolates. That was the difference.

missjanna Oct 17th, 2003 05:24 AM

I'm just curious for those that think this World Series will be boring after BOTH playoffs were forced into extra innings and 7 games. Is it boring because this will be a true contest or do you think no one will be watching because YOUR TEAM LOST!!!

Gekko Oct 17th, 2003 05:31 AM

Of course it's 95% sour grapes, missjanna, but as a huge Yankees fan I will add that a BoSox-Cubs series would have attracted a much larger audience -- two perennial losers competing. One of them would have had to win, amazingly.

I find the jealous money comments amusing. Tell me if the Red Sox, or any team, had the Yankees' money, they would donate it to charity instead of pulling together the best players. Yeah, right.

Now, where are the hotel suggestions? I'm a Yankees fan -- cost isn't an issue.

missjanna Oct 17th, 2003 06:24 AM

There is a hotel by Pro Player (think it's a Holiday Inn) but don't think the area is that safe. Better off staying in Hollywood or Bal Harbour and driving...

clarkgriswold Oct 17th, 2003 06:59 AM

Better off staying home!

GoTravel Oct 17th, 2003 09:53 AM

Aventura would be one of the closest places to stay. As far as the beaches, Golden Beach, Sunny Isles or Bal Harbour.

Mark my word, this series will be the least watched in the history of World Series TV. Most of America was pulling for a Bosox,Cubbie Series. My team lost? Yeah I wanted the Cubs to win and I haved lived in Atlanta for 40 years. I have had the pleasure of seeing many playoff and a few World Series. This year I was pullin for the Cubs/Red Sox all the way! Frankly this weekend I would rather rake leaves.

I agree with 14...i think most ppl were pulling for a Cubs/BoSox series..it has more excitement around it..i dont see the excitement in watching 2 teams who have already been in the world series go at it..

cassidy2002 Oct 17th, 2003 12:51 PM

Being a Red Wings fan I find the money comments funny too! I guess your perspective on it depends on who you root for. I love that the Wings go out and get whoever they need to win, but hate the Yankees for doing the same thing. Double standard, you bet!!

Judyrem Oct 17th, 2003 01:00 PM

Why can't Florida have an exciting series? What is it with you Cub fans? You are getting me all incensed here! I like the scrappy fighting Fish, and I will watch every exciting inning. I think you are JUST JEALOUS. Judy :-D

Gekko Oct 17th, 2003 01:19 PM

Of course they're jealous Judyrem, but I reiterate, a BoSox-Cubs series would have been huge because both teams are perennial losers and one of them would have had to win. Yes, people would have tuned it to see which loser actually won for once in a zillion seasons.

Back to travel -- I like the Delano Hotel on Ocean. How long a journey from there to the stadium?

Heartburn3 Oct 17th, 2003 05:54 PM

Back to the original question...there's a Hampton Inn at I-75 and Sheridan Street and you can take the back way to the stadium. (Anything near the stadium is not worth staying at--not a good neighborhood.) You can grab a fish dinner AFTER the Marlins win the game...LOL!! And to everyone posting on this thread, LIGHTEN UP! IT'S ONLY A GAME!!!

wolfshin Oct 17th, 2003 06:10 PM

If it had been a redsox-cubs world series, considering their history, I don't think either one of them would have won...(smile).
