Hotel in Crested Butte?
 

Considering a trip to Crested Butte this summer. What are the nicest hotels/inns in town?

I'm surprised you have not received any suggestions yet. I haven't been to Crested Butte lately, so I'm sorry I can't give you any names. But, be persistent-- CB is beautiful in the summertime and it's a lovely little town for a vacation.
Years ago, the Ore House was a mainstay in CB, but I have no clue if it's still there and if it's been maintained.
Have you contacted CB's tourism website? Good luck.

Sorry-- I just Googled the Ore House, and I couldn't find it. I guess it no longer exists. But there are plenty of others. Good luck with your search. Maybe another Fodorite can chime in with a recommendation-- anyone??

We only go in the winter. We always stay at the Grand Lodge because it's close to the slopes and shuttle into town. Sorry I can't be more help.

Husband and I stayed in Crested Butte about 5 years ago and we still talk about our overnight there. This would not be considered the "nicest hotel" but it is definetly the most quirky and gives you a taste of what the area is all about.

The Claim Jumper is a B&B just outside of town. It is run out of a home by a man who also doubles as a justice of the peace. Every square inch of the place is chock-full of knick-knacks and interesting quirky stuff - In the "lobby" there is a bi-plane hanging from the ceiling. Each room is themed (sailor room, sports lover room, wilderness room, etc.) and everything in each room relates to the theme. The sports lover room had a mini-putting green. We stayed in the sailor room, and the walls were covered with ship memorabilia, popeye cartoons, the books on the shelves were all related to the ocean, the dresser was made of seashells....etc. etc.etc.

In the morning the owner cooked us a fantastic full breakfast with eggs, potatoes and a venison sausage. Some ski-bum friends of his even showed up for breakfast and gave us a great recommendation on beautiful hiking trails full of wildflowers.

It was one of our best stays in Colorado. Not luxurious but fun and really genuine. Dont miss it.

We did a ski trip to Crested Butte in March 2002, and stayed in town at a place called the Cristiana (not sure I spelled that exactly right, but it's close). Anyway, not fancy, small rooms, small bathroom, but very clean, very economical, and a wonderful breakfast was included each morning in the lobby. Homemade granola, fresh fruit, homemade muffins and breads, real oatmeal (not the packets), yogurt, orange juice, tea, coffee, etc. The owners were SO very helpful and friendly----not intrusive, just very willing to help with questions about the area, the ski hill, etc. Our friends stayed there during the wildflower festival that summer (2002) and said again how nice the place was. It's not a huge hotel with lots of amenities (altho there was a great outdoor hot tub with a view of the mountain------I remember huge snowflakes falling on me while sitting in it, sipping my hot chocolate------great memories of winter in Crested Butte!) Anyway, don't know if this is what you want------not luxury by any means.....just kind of a nice little clean inn. Good luck! P.S. Wonderful little "log cabin" gourmet restaurant: Soupcon
