Hotel in Boston
 

We will be flying into Boston at 7:30 AM on Thur, Oct 8th and need to board a cruise ship by 3 PM the next day. We're planning to do the Freedom Trail while we're in Boston. We'll just be in the hotel to drop off our luggage and sleep so I'm mainly interested in something that has good access to public transportation since we won't have a car.

First, the post above me (if it is still there - I reported it) ignore - it is an ad for a website from a new poster.

Depends on your budget. The best idea would be a hotel in the Faneuil Hall area - or areas called Copley, Downtown perhaps. These tend to be more expensive but if you are only going to be here for 30 hours, I think worth it. These are walking distance to everything you would want to do, plus walking and safe distance to restaurants.

If you check these out and find the price too high, for your purposes I might even stay at the airport - and I never suggest that. Just make sure hotel is AT the airport and not near it - there is a Hilton and I think another one actually on airport grounds. You could then take MBTA airport shuttle to hotel, drop luggage, take same bus to MBTA blue line into Boston.

I can recommend the Harborside Inn Hotel which is across the street from Quincy Market, and the Aquarium stop on the blue line is right outside the door.

I stayed there not long ago and loved the hotel for location, price and amenities.

The other airport hotel is the Hyatt.

Both can be inexpensive on Priceline. Just select 4 star hotels only and you will get one of these if it is available. The Hilton is slightly more convenient to the T, the Hyatt has the water taxi right outside the back door. The water taxi is not cheap, but it is a treat.

Assuming you will be boarding your cruise ship in the Waterfront area, my suggestion would be any of the several hotels there: Westin Waterfront, Renaissance Waterfront, or Seaport Hotel.

These 3 hotels are a short ride on the Silver Line (our subway system) from the airport. When you check out the next day, you can leave your luggage there, head into downtown for more sightseeing in the AM, go back to your hotel for your luggage and then walk over to your cruise ship boarding area.

I was looking at hotels in Boston and they were all over $200 so I just did my first Priceline hotel. I selected Boston Waterfront and 3 1/2 Star and bid $90 (just to see if I could really get a room that cheap) and I got the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel on the first round. LOL...so now I feel like I paid too much even though it was $299 through all the other search places.

You can check www.biddingfortravel.com and www.betterbidding.com to see recent winning bids. The Renaissance is a lovely hotel. My mother and friend stayed there last May. Several decent restaurants nearby.

Thanks lincasanova, I had read some information on biddingfortravel and I did report my winning bid there but it took too long to go through all the info and figure out which hotels were where so I just decided to go for broke and try a low bid in one location and see if it worked. Looks like I got pretty lucky. I hope that's an indication of how the rest of the trip will go too! ;-)

When you go to that webpage, just scroll down wihtout clicking on any icons, and then you will see the hotels and cities/states in order. Click open your city/state, and the list of hotels that are won in a certain area are under "HOTEL LIST", check it out, then go back and the winning bids are posted next.

I like to compare both sites, and www.betterbidding.com also has the Hotwire identifcation and winning bids .. which is great.
