Hotel in Baltimore - Orioles game
 

Hi,
Would like to stay somewhere under 150. per night, one room around Baltimore that's fairly accessible to transportation to the waterfront and to an Orioles game.
Chains and not fancy are ok. Walk around area would be a bonus but not necessary.

We'll be flying in to Baltimore.

based on my search for my trip to Baltimore, this may not be possible without using Priceline. Most hotels in the harbor are more than that. Which weekend are you coming?

If ticks are still avail. In May.

The hotel does not have to be in the Harbor area only assessable by public transportation or cabs.
I'm seeing a few hotels under 200. I'm just not familiar with their locations.

If you're willing to go a little higher (about $200), check out the Brookshire suites. Good location a block or two back from the inner Harbor, walking distance to Camden yards and they include breakfast. I think parking is additional.

Got the Sox ticks. May 13 game, Lower Box, section 6 - not great but it'll due, for a late B-day for DH - very excited.

Didn't realize the Sox were in Baltimore 2 weeks before I am going to Baltimore to watch them for 3 games. Gotta love the scheduling.

Will be going to work to listen to my XM tomorrow so that I don't miss any...

Anyone here familiar with the Days Inn Harbor? It appears to be 5 mins. from the Harbor and Camden yards.

Some of the other hotels are booked.

Weekends at Inner Harbor hotels when Orioles are in town go up somewhat. Prices when Red Sox are in town go up a lot - and availability is tight. The least expensive one we found last year was Holiday Inn Inner Harbor - not your typical Holiday Inn - it was actually nice.

I can highly recommend the Residence Inn Baltimore Inner Harbor. I stayed there for two weeks in December and it is really quite nice. Great staff and big, clean rooms. Two blocks from the Inner Harbor.

Glad you said that about the Residence Inn as I am staying there at the end of May.

I'll check out the above mentioned as well as the Days Inn Inner harbor.

I can't seem to find a good map with Camden Yard and places like Mt. Vernon on it. How far is Mt. Vernon from the inner harbor?

We stayed at the Sleep Inn in Linthicum (near the Airport) when we went down to see the Sox vs. Orioles. It's right across the street from the light rail which will take you to Baltimore and to the airport. It was cheap, nice, and clean. The only downside was that its not in the Inner Harbor ;)

PS. It's also not a great place for walking around. Nothing exciting to see at all.

Priceline 3 stars or 4 stars in the Inner Harbor and stadium area. You will be close to the park. I have done this 5 times on Priceline, never paid more than $90 for a room, and been very happy each time.

cybor, I am going to Baltimore in April for the W.Sox/Orioles set of games.

I got a good deal on Priceline bidding- ended up with the Lord Baltimore Radisson. It's about 5 blocks from Inner Harbor and 4 to Camden Yards.

It's (reading the reviews) consistently filled with baseball people/tourists. And it is about $139 to $169 or so on specials on their website. I got it for 5 days at $97 bid.

It has sleepnumber beds and sounds like the accessability will be fine.

Not much left so I snagged the days Inn Inner Harbor thru Expedia which was the cheapest 134. per night.

I notice a shuttle from the airport that 11 -15 pp. Is this the best (easiest, less time consuming and inexpensive) way to get there?
Anyone familiar with getting to Mt.Vernon from the Inner harbor.

As for eats - any suggestions.
Looking perhaps for 1 night splurge (max. 125. total 2 people) decent Italian.
Also looking for reasonable cheap non chain eats. Slice of pizza, salads, sandwiches, even a dog or 2, thai, etc.

cybor, I'm doing the same trip in April, and we are going to Mt. Vernon too. By public transit too, no car. It was one of the places we missed during the week in D.C. last year.

You might want to bring those threads up, because some of the answers to crab cakes and restaurants are on them.

I asked about the shuttle or cab from BWI and didn't get an answer on that one.

I do 2 or 3 baseball trips a year- and Baltimore was long overdue.
