Hotel Help w/ parking & pool

We are planning a trip to New Orleans in September and need some suggestions for a hotel. We have relatives in Metarie and have stayed there the last couple years, however this year we would like to stay closer to the quarter.
The problem is that we are driving to Orleans and don't care to pay the extra for parking. We also want the hotel to have a pool.
Any suggestions.
Thanks.

In my search I found the Chateau Motor Hotel..near Jackson square has free parking (check to be sure). It's not a fancy place..but not terrible from what I could learn..good location.has a pool.Nearly all the other places charge extra.

We have reservations in June at the Chateau Hotel and yes it does have free parking which is one of the reasons we choose that hotel plus the $89 rate for a King room. I can let you know how we liked it after our trip in June....after researching, the only other hotel that we found without a charge for parking was the Le Richelieu.
Both are in the French Quarter. Parking at some hotels was just outrageous and since we are driving also then the free parking was a plus.
There is also a B&B that I checked into called La Maison Marigny on Bourbon. (www.lamaisonmarigny.com). The proprietor was quite nice in my correspondence with him...I believe it is on the edge of the French Quarter.
I would assume that they have parking available that you do not have to pay extra for.
Hope this helps...

hi--

stayed at le richelieu last august and recall a small pool in the courtyard--the kind u can just get wet in. liked the hotel, tho. funky rooms were dated but ornate in an over-the-top way.

Someone must have more information?

What more do you want, topper? I think the original question has been answered adequately. Le Richelieu and Chateau are fairly well-known places that have both a pool and free parking. These two things (esp. free parking!) aren't common in the Quarter!

Hi John,
Thanks for the feedback.
How is the area for walking back to the hotel since it is so "deep" in the quarter?
Other than that, I don't think I have a problem and will be there in September.

Are you the John that has a place on Bourbon, was it...If so, We'll stop by for a cold one.

Chris

Both places are fine for walking. Take the same precautions you would in any US city...cab it if you're drunk, for example.

(Yes, I'm that very same John!)

Enjoy your trip!
