hotel help in San Diego
Does anyone know about the DoubleTree hotel on Hotel Circle? We were just switched there from the new Hampton Inn that is not going to be ready. Thanks.

I live in San Diego, so have never stayed at the hotel. I have, however, gone there 5 or 6 times for conferences.
It is an older Doubletree, located in Mission Valley, which is a good central location if you have a car. It is convenient to the airport and major freeways, so it is easy to get downtown and to major tourist attractions, especially the zoo, Sea World, Old Town, and the beaches. The trolley is also close by. I think I paid $18 for parking--it may be more now. Like many of the hotels in Mission Valley, it attracts a lot of business travelers and conventions, so can be hectic at times. It is also close to the freeway, so I imagine it could be noisy too, depending on your room location. The area itself is pretty nondescript. There is little of interest within walking distance, except Fashion Valley Mall. The area is primarily older hotels, with a few restaurants interspersed, along the I-8 corridor. You can find reviews and traveler photos on tripadvisor: http://goo.gl/l7izWT Hope you have a wonderful time in San Diego. |
Thank you for your reply. We will have a car. As long as it is clean we will be okay. According to their web page it was recently renovated. How far is the Fashion Valley Mall from the hotel? Also, how do you purchase Trolley tickets? They are giving me complimentary parking so that will help. Thanks.

The mall is directly across the freeway - less than 1/2 a mile as the crow flies. Maybe 3/4 of a mile by road.

You can catch the trolley at either Fashion Valley Mall or Mission Valley Mall. Both malls are close to your hotel.
Here's a link to some basic information (you want the Green Line). The concierge should be able to help you with any specific questions. http://www.sdmts.com/Trolley/Trolley.asp |
Thank you.
