Hotel/Guest House near Tulane

i think I may have to go down to NOLA this weekend to help my son find an apartment for the spring term and would like to stay near the school. Do you have any suggestions? It would only be for two days and I might just put him up there so he can find a place until his friends arrive on campus.

The Columns on St. Charles might work. Also, a little further away, but on St. Charles--the Ponchartrain Hotel, the Hampton Inn and several other so-so hotels in that area. There are several B&B type places on Prytania and are also close by, I don't know the names. You can find them easily by "googling".
Oh yes, the Park View(or something like that) Guest House, right on Audubon Park is nice.

The previous poster mentioned the same places I would. Park View Guest House is the closest to the campus (across the street) and is beautiful from the street. I haven't been inside, but I would imagine that the rooms are nice as well.

Also, it may be worthwhile to phone Tulane University's residential life department for advice. Perhaps they have some apartment-style dormitories you can rent until the students arrive.

Thanks for the ideas. I did contact Tulane and their guest housing is full but they suggested the Park View and have made reservations. Now If only finding the apartment would be so easy!

I attended Tulane several years ago for graduate school (your son will love it!) and used Latter & Blum's Uptown office (on Maple) to find rental properties. I have no connections with L&B but since they are one of the larger realty firms in New Orleans then it may be worth giving them a call. I found my apartment in about 2 hours of tours with an agent.
