hotel for Key West

Spending three days during Christmas week in Key West. Please advise re the best hotel which is convenient to old town and also has all the amenities - pool, health club, etc. We will not have a car since we will be flying in.

Check out pierhouse.com

The Pier House is nice because of its location and that it has a small beach with palm trees as well as a pool and a hottub.

If you consider this, the best rooms IMO ar the Lanae rooms which face into the garden and of these I like a 2nd floor room with a small veranda instead of a 1st floor with a small patio. Ones in the 420 - 440 range are very good, some with one king and some with two queen beds.

Some of the standard rooms face a small parking area on Duval Street and are not very nice because of this.

I agree w/the prior posters (re: a hotel) but if it were me I would choose the Marquesa (www.marquesa.com) or Heron House (www.heronhouse.com).

I'm not sure the exact dates of your time in Key West, but it's not unusual for minimum nights (occasionally as much as 4 nights) to be required over holidays.

If you want a water view, the Pier House is very nice and has a fabulous spa. So is the Ocean Key Resort, but I haven't heard anything about their spa recently. oceankey.com

Also lovely, but not on the water is the Gardens Hotel

You'll be fine with any of these choices.

I stayed at the Marquesa. It is a lovely boutique hotel just steps from the main entertainment/shopping/restaurant district. We enjoyed it very much however be aware that the pool is very small, there is no health club, and no elevators. Otherwise it's very nice and convenient (and pricey).

not sure what your budget is... but I did this same trip last year and stayed at the Hyatt. Got a good deal even during Christmas week. The hotel is close to Sunset Pier and the harbor. We walked everywhere and had a great time. if you are there for New Year's Eve, you will have a terrific time on Duval street.
