Hotel for Dallas Cowboys game

The last time this topic was posted was 1999 so I thought I'd have a go at it again. Hubby and I and 13 year old daughter will be in Dallas for Cowboys game on Dec 21. Any hotel suggestions? Hubby likes 'very nice' hotels and daughter would enjoy an indoor pool or some other 'cool' feature. Proximity to the Stadium is a plus, but not a dealbreaker. Since we're only staying a night or two, cost is not really an issue. How is the Four Seasons? Anything special? Any help appreciated.
Margie

Several great options:
Four Seasons - 175.00
Wyndham Anatole - 91.00
Hotel ZaZa - 150.00
Crescent Court - 180.00
Melrose - 110.00
The FS is OK... the Anatole is awesome if you request a corner suite overlooking downtown. ZaZa is brand spanking new and just to die for!
The Crescent and the Melrose are both good, too.
Have fun!

I'd go for the Omni Mandalay too. It's a terrific hotel, Omni's flagship property and beautiful inside and out plus with its Irving location, only about 3 miles from Texas Stadium. They have a lovely heated outdoor pool, jogging and bike trails, and bikes for rent. Their lobby bar has free internet access, so if you stay, sign in and let us know how you like it! :> Hopefully...gasp, groan...you are not an Eagles fan....

TrvlPro
Why do you recommend a hotel in the GayDistrict when she says she is bringing her 13 y/o daughter??? Whats safe in that?????

OliveOyl Dec 11th, 2002 08:34 AM

xxy...what in tarnation do you think will happen to her daughter in the "gay district"?! Physical harm? She might *view* a gay couple and be emotionally scarred? Get a grip. Yuck--I have no patience with that sort of attitude.

I'd post with "xxy" as my name too if I posted such stupid drivel.

I assume you mean the Melrose as being the "gay district" hotel. While there are gay bars on the street behind the hotel, rest assured that many straight folks like myself (and my family) live within a few blocks as well. It's a good location for the game as Texas Stadium is just a few minutes away via the freeway. The hotel is great, too! My clients always stay there and not one has turned gay yet!

Margie,

Pick a hotel you want to spend a lot of time at. The "boys" will probably be getting their -----' kicked, so at least you can leave early and have a nice place to go.

49er

Thanks everyone for your replies. First things first, yes Olive Oyl, I'm an Eagles fan - sorry. That brings me to 49er, I believe that the 'boys will get their butts kicked so I will be staying at the stadium till the last tick of the clock! Regarding hotels, I am intrigued by the OMNI and will research it further. I had not heard of the Hotel ZaZa - where is it? Regarding the Melrose, I actually stayed there 6 or 7 years ago and enjoyed my stay. As a matter of fact, I suggested it to my husband, as that is exactly the type of hotel he loves. My only reservation was not the Melrose's location, which I found charming, but whether there was anything at the hotel to interest my daughter. I KNOW I shouldn't get on my soabox here but, I am a firm believer that parents SHOULD expose their children to a variety of life's experiences with as much of an open mind as possible. By the way, that 13 year old has already visited South Beach and Key West. I doubt she'd be exposed to anything earth shattering in Dallas.
Anyway, thanks again for your help. I hope I don't get blasted too bad for my comments!
Margie

Good for you, Margie. I think your kids will end up just fine. We need more parents like you!

Enjoy your trip to Dallas.

Margie,

The Hotel Zaza (http://www.hotelzaza.com/) just opened up a few weeks ago. It's located in the "uptown" neighborhood of Dallas; it's just north of downtown. Or if you're familiar with the Crescent Court hotel, it's a couple blocks from there.
