Hotel Elysee in NYC
 

Has anyone stayed here? Get's a good review from Fodors but I am looking for some personal reviews. I haven't seen it mentioned on the forum. I'll be in NYC in Dec. and a friend has recommended this hotel. <BR>Thanks in advance for any comments. <BR> <BR>

Sheryl, <BR> <BR>Well, we ALMOST stayed there, but ended up getting a better last-minute deal from the Internet (travelweb.com). <BR> <BR>It sounded great to me, and we'd made a reservation there because my husband's company has it on a recommended list with a corporate rate. I'm sorry to say, though, that we never got over there to see what it was like in person. The descriptions in his company literature made it sound quite attractive.

I stayed there about 2 years ago in November. I was very pleased. They had a nice wine and cheese reception every evening. The only compaint would be the elevators. If I remember correctly, they only had one and they were very slow. Other than that, the service was nice, the rooms were good, and it is a great location.

I am sending this to the top, because I would like some information on this as well.

Any idea about price range for this hotel?

It has been a while since anyone asked about this hotel. A friend recommended it recently -- any one have any more input on it? Thanks

I am looking for a 1 bedroom suite for me, my husband, and 4-year-old. Elysee is pricing out just under $400/night, which seems really reasonable. I am wondering about the neighborhood, etc.

If you want to stay in midtown, as opposed to downtown, you will not find a hotel more &quot;central&quot; than this one.


You can walk to all midtown attractions, including theatres. It receives excellent reviews on TripAdvisor.

Good restaurants in the area will not be inexpensive; goes with the midtown territory.

Neighborhood is primarily high rise business with stores (major and smaller, mostly upscale on avenues - with some restaurants on the side streets). Except for the delis for office workers the latter will be mostly upscale. Very central and a great european style boutique hotel.

It's not known as a suite hotel but they do have some. There are a number of other suite hotels in that area including the Affinia 50, the San Carlos, the Benjamin and the Kimberly. The Elysee is the most upscale. I'd say the San Carlos would be next. The immediate area around the Elysee is a high rent district. It's a block from Fifth ave. and about 3 blocks to Trump Tower to give you an idea.
