The Edison is a great place to stay! You are right in the heart of the theater district and it is very convenient. The accommodations are not luxurious, but very clean, and the hotel staff is friendly. The rooms are not huge, but remember you're not moving in there, you're only staying a few nights! They have done some remodeling including the art deco lobby. I have stayed there many times and have always felt safe. I don't know what nights you're staying there so I can't comment on rates (month & days of the week can make a difference in rate structure) but you also might want to check for rates at this hotel using quikbook.com hoteldiscount.com staycheap.com etc. There are tons of places to eat near by, check earlier posts on this board for food ideas in the theater district, and the hotel's cafe is fun for breakfast. Have fun!

Gee......this hotel must be in....New York? San Francisco? Los Angeles?...Boise?.......Coalinga?

Duh

The Edison in NYC is right across the street from Lincoln Center. I agree with Abbey about the other details.

The Edison is a good hotel. There are quite a few good eating places in the area.

The cafe that is in the Edison serves diner type food. I've seen several actors from Broadway shows in there.

John's Pizzeria 260 West 44th is a pizza/Italian place in a converted church.

Manhattan Chili 1500 Broadway at West 43rd or 1697 Broadway at W. 54. Different types of chili and Tex-Mex food.

Walk over to 9th Avenue (between 42nd & 59th) and you can find about any type of food you want. There is a great mix of ethnic restaurants on 9th Avenue.

Of course 42nd Street (between Broadway & 8th Avenue) has several chain restaurants: Chili's, Applebee's, Chevy's.

evelyntrav, the Edison isn't across from Lincoln Center. Lincoln Center is in the West 60's.

The Edison Hotel (in Times Square, not near Lincoln Center) is just fine but for $140 you may be able to get a room at a more upscale hotel. Have a look around.
