Hotel Del Coronardo in Cali

We are planning on staying at the Hotel Del Coronardo in September this year. Does anyone have any feedback on this resort or tips?

Look carefully into which building it is. The original (old) buidling is charming. I have heard the neweer parts are not so great,

Some of those old rooms in the older section look and feel just that, IMO: old.

We love the Del, and I agree with both previous replies - the old rooms are charming, but they can feel OLD, so it depends on what you like. The new rooms, IMO, feel like any other hotel, so for those prices, I'm not a fan. I prefer character. Leave time and $ for brunch in the Crown Room if you'll be there on Sunday - it's the main reason we go. =)

We don't usually avail of a lot of the activities because it's too expensive, but do plan on a good long beach walk - fighters, etc. often fly by quite low if you're into that sort of thing, the view is spectacular, and the sand is really great. I hate gritty sand. =) It's beautiful for laying out too, but it gets quite windy, so we usually end up heading back in towards the pool area instead if you want to sun/read. Magazines on the beach are IMPOSSIBLE.

They will nickel and dime you, just so you know. Parking fees are extra and there's no where else to park, resort fees...I forget what else, but it always costs us more than we anticipated, which is the one thing we hate about the place. Try not to think about it while you're there so you can enjoy your vacation!

There's only one Del Coronado of mention in the world.

As stated in another of your posts, lose the Cali.

Here's a link to the best beaches in the U.S.

Top rated is Coronado's beach. Check out the photo of the Del. You can't help but love a place like this.

Notice East Hampton Beach is # 3 - and couldn't agree more.

The food is great. Try the Sunday brunch for a treat!

The hotel itself is beautiful, from another era. The rooms weren't particularly special last we stayed there, but that was some time ago. The outdoor areas are gorgeous - beach, pool, bar, restaurant. And the town is great, too, especially being so close to downtown San Diego.

Just to set the record straight its Coronado. If you want to really be annoying you can refer to it as Nado, Cali. :))

My wife is a native of San Diego and it's the Del.

Coronado is the name of the town.
