Hotel Del Coronado Trouble???
 

Help! We're paying a lot of money to stay at the Hotel Del in October and have just come across a website telling us to boycott the hotel because of labor disputes, etc. Does anyone have any current info on any "trouble"? Has anyone stayed there in the past few months? What advice do you have? We were really looking forward to our stay!! Thanks in advance.

Stayed at the Del a few years ago. We stayed in the "new" section as opposed to the original building. We had reserved "Ocean View" and it took us three tries(as well as a tip to the Bellman) to get a room with (key word "Direct Ocean Front View") ( our first "Ocean View" room overlooked the parking lot , but if you stood on the balcony and craned your neck, you could see the Ocean!)...not acceptable. Now, I must say, once we got what we wanted, the room was large, beautiful, great bathroom - terrific! Our friends who stayed in the main hotel were not as pleased with their room - smaller and old fashioned.. it is a beautiful property and we were happy to have stayed there. There is also a very good casual Italian Restaurant down the street. Can't remember the name, but it was excellent. Hotel food just so-so.

It's one of the more famous hotels in America. It's in San Diego.

kch, actually, the hotel is in Coronado, CA. and as Jason said, it's one of the more famous hotels in the US. <BR>Patrick,there have been some news reports regarding the labor trouble at the Del. I really don't know much about it, so I'm not even going to try to explain. It doesn't seem to have had any significant effect on hotel visitors.
