Hotel Crime
 

Hello, I'm searching for statistics on hotel crime in the US to present to employees, and haven't had much luck in finding anything. Anyone got any ideas?

I'm guessing most hotels would not want to be real forthcoming with data about how many crimes occur on their premises....very bad for business from a PR standpoint. <BR>I think I'd try finding the name of someone in a corporate position of say Marriott or some non-franchised chain, call them and explain what you want the info for and see if you could get some details. I'm sure the data is there and available to insiders.

when I wrote "corporate position" I didn't mean VP of Operations or something, of course. I meant that I'd try to find the name of a middle management person whose business it is to track that kind of thing, security, etc. and try to make a favorable impression on the phone.

Since the majority of hotel crime is committed by hotel employees, it's doubtful that you'll get much specific info from hotels. What is your aim in presenting the info to employees? <BR>

Thanks for replying! I regularly do security awareness reports for our employees goingn to risky int'l destinations, and now one of our business units requested a presentation for domestic travel. The aim of the research is to provide them with some good statistical information so they raise their security awareness and use the security and safety tool pu in place by the hotels. <BR>

I'll amend/correct my previous statement. The word "crime" is really the wrong word. I was specifically referring to theft (in terms of employees being the main culprits) and not crime in general. Hotels do a fairly good job of protecting their guests from violent crimes, but there are some incidents.
