Hotel chains that still allow smoking in rooms?
 

Need to book hotel room for friend who wants to be able to smoke in room. I know all Marriott properties are non-smoking. Specifically, north of Boston - but are there chains that still have a smoking allowed policy?

Hampton Inn still provides smoking rooms - perhaps all Hilton properties still do. Likewise, Holiday Inn also has them.

As far as I know, Marriot is the only chain that is completely non-smoking. Sheratons seem to have a lot of non-smoking properties, but I am not sure if all of them are.As far as other chains go, It seems to be more on an individual basis. Usually the best chance of getting a smoking room is through a chain hotel. Most privately owned hotels and B&Bs have gone non-smoking. Though you can always try to find one that has a private balcony or porch where you can. I don't smoke, but I travel with a smoker, and prefer the balcony/porch type room myself.

We have a Clarion and Comfort Inn near us; both have smoking rooms. I think they are independently-owned franchises, though - so the policies may differ from place to place. In my state, for instance, no smoking is allowed inside any B&B.

The Four Points Sheraton in Norwood has smoking rooms. I know this because I got stuck with one and thought I was going to die the stench was so bad.

Local ordinances are also dictating more and more who, where and when.
Some are allowing " grandfather rights " and some are not this is an issue that can change quickly.
