Hotel Bentley, Beacon or Beakman in New York?

Hoping to get your comments on these three properties in New York City. I seem to be stuck with killer Bs...

Thanks,

Rod

I was in Beacon Hotel last year and it was very god. The hotel is very close to the subway station , the Zabars market and some blocks from Lincoln Center. The room was very nice, quite big and with a little kitchen on it. The staff was also very helpful, it was my first trip to New York City and they helped me a lot with suggestions and ideas. I surely recommend it.

Rod: Why don't you do a search on the hotel names, I know there has been information on at least 2. I can tell you that the Bentley is located on 61st Street and York Avenue, a residential area not to convenient to tourist attractions. The closest subway is on Lexingtion Avenue, 4 long blocks. I understand the hotel has great river views, so if you decide to stay, ask for a river view. It also has the distiction of being the only hotel in Manhattan that has a gas station in the building, which is not a plus by any means. High traffic area with entrance and exit to the FDR Drive Highway.

The Beekman is in a very nice residential area not far from the U.N. on 1St Avenue and 49th Street. The location is relatively convenient to most midtown attractions, via the crosstown bus across the street from the hotel. Lots of nice neighborhood restaurants on 1st and 2nd Avenue in the East 50's. Of the 2 hotels, the Beekman has the better and more convenient location. Unfortunately, I am not familar with the amenities and rooms of the hotels.

We stayed at the Bentley several weeks ago b/c we got a great deal on Quikbook.
It's quite a stylish place, with smallish but immaculate rooms. The gas station is next door, not in the bldg! Free continental bkfst. is served on the top floor, with city views and East River views to die for. Parking was only $20 per nite--a great deal in NYC. Wouldn't go back, however, b/c it really is far from everything. It's a major hike to the subway. The coffee/cappucino
bar in the lobby is a very nice touch.

You will have an infinitely better time at the Beacon. It's much better situated location-wise.

You'll all be happy to know that the gas station at 61st & York is closed. This was unhappy news for me as I had fought the traffic from the Lincoln Tunnel to 61st & York to re-fill my rental car before returning it, only to be turned away!

As for the hotel info, I'd probably go with the Beacon because the Upper West Side is a nice residential neighborhood, that is a short walk to Lincoln Center and a longer walk to 9th Ave (lots of cheap, ethnic eats) and the theater district.

The Bentley is really nice, and the gas station, a Mobil, is now CLOSED. Plus, the Bentley offers tremendous rates if you ask. Friends of mine stayed there over Thanksgiving for $129 per night, and their room was HUGE with a great bridge/river view.

Nice Starbucks on the corner of 60th and First . . . and Scores is on 60th between First & Second!!

If the Mobil gas station at the Bentley has closed, it can only be one of 2 scenarios. A new gas station will open, or more likely, the gas station and Bentley will be torn down to make way for a high rise. Virtually every gas station in midtown has been torn down and replaced by an apartment or commercial building. By the way does anyone know where a convenient gas station is located on the east side of Manhattan?

There are a couple on Houston near the FDR, and a couple on the upper east (mid-90's), also very near the FDR.

That's the best I can do, unfortunately.
