Hotel advice for New Orleans Girls' Weekend in October.
 

Hi! I'm organizing a girls' weekend in New Orleans for 9 college friends, all turning 40 this year. We're just beginning to plan, but targeting the 1st weekend in October.

Stay would be for 3-4 nights. Looking for a hotel that's walking distance to French Quarter restaurants and attractions. Would want a hotel with large spacious rooms (or suites) where we could hang out and talk. Would prefer to pay under $250/night (2 to a room).

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

We have stayed at the Hotel Provincial many, many times, and I think it would be perfect for your trip.

The hotel has many pretty rooms, but with a group we have enjoyed the Petit Suites, which open out onto a little private patio.

The hotel is located in the French Quarterwithin easy walking distance to great restaurants.

The answer to your question may depend on a few things. Do you want to be right on Bourbon St. in the middle of things or off the beaten path a bit on a quieter street ? Do you plan to stay in the Quarter or venture out ?

SAnParis2--we don't need to be right on Bourbon St. We don't plan to party 'til early morning --just want to be able to walk to restaurants and minimize car travel. We probably would want to venture out a little, maybe do a Garden District tour.

Check out the prices during that time at the Ritz Carlton, which often has reasonable prices.

Connected to the Ritz is the Iberville Suites, which is all suites and very nice.

Also look at what you can get at the W in the French Quarter.

The Omni in the FQ is nice, too.

You're going to want to stay in or very near the FQ.

Along with starrs suggestion, I'd add the Ramada Inn on Bourbon. Everybody doesn't need to pay the upcharge for a Bourbon Street balcony room, but it's nice to have somebody with one so you can hang and people watch when you want a break.

Both the Inn on Bourbon and Dauphine Orleans are located near the center of the Quarter so walking most places is not a problem.

We stayed at the Quarter House several years ago and loved it. As I recall, we had the penthouse suite and the rooms were enormous.
