Hotel ?

I will be going to DC this summer with 2 kids and my husband. I need some hotel advice. Can you please give me some opinions on L'Enfant Plaza hotel, Capitol Hill Suites and Washington Suites. I want the hotel to be clean and close to metro and sights. If you can recommend and other hotels I would appreciated it. Thanks!

You need to repost this with a better heading, such as: "WashingtonDC Hotel Advice."

Not many are going to stop to read a post that simply asks, "Hotel?" with no other clue.

I am sure that there are many that have opinions on the hotels that you list.

We stayed at L'Enfant Plaza last October. It was very convenient to Metro, but not much else. Hotel is quite outdated but clean. There were absolutely NO restaurants close by other than the underground "mall" which was closed at night. I would not want to pay much to stay there. I am not familiar with the other properties.

While very convenient to the National Mall, I don't think the L'Enfant Plaza hotel is a good location at all. It is surrounded by huge governemt office biiuldings, the area is dead at night and on weekends, and as mentioned there are no dining options in the immediate area.

Washington Suites in Georgetown is better for dining and shopping but there is no Metro nearby although there is good bus service to the tourist sights.

The best location of the three is the Capitol Hill Suites. It's in a quiet residential area, two blocks to the Capitol South Metro stop, an easy walk to the Mall, and right next to the Capitol/Library of Congress/Supreme Court. There are also many dining options right around the corner on Pennsyvania Avenue. Here's an area map:

We stayed there in Sept and found it to be perfect for our needs. The blocks in DC are BIG and so 2-4 blocks is quite a distance but this was the best location to see it all. Quiet on the weekends and sitting atop a Metro Station you have access to all of DC. So no dining nearby but a 5 min ride on Metro and you're at Grand Central Station! We've only been to Dc about 5 times but have found this to be the best location for us.

Our family stayed at the Embassy Suites and really enjoyed it. The room was pleasant and spacious and the free breakfast was a plus. The hotel is close to restaurants and seemed to be in a safe neighborhood. The only drawback I found was that it is a four or five block walk to the metro but that wouldn't stop us from returning.

I should have stated that we were at the Embassy Suites on 22 and M.
