Hot Horseradish!

A friend of the real icee's had someone bring him some hot horseradish from Edisto Island.

GT or beachdweller, either of you have an idea what brand it might be. DH is travelling so he can't ask his buddy.

This is the season when you can make your own....enough to clean your sinuses out for a year.. Buy horseradish root at the supermarket, peel, cut into cubes......here is where the fun starts.. Pour white vinegar into a blender....and start adding chunks of the root...you will need more white vinegar than you think you will.. You may want to wear goggles if you've never done this before.. Take out and strain, fill jars and seal immediately. I do not add beet juice or sugar to mine...pure horseradish... it';s very potent

Wake up GoTravel and give me some help here.
And, thanks ParrotMom...I could just do that!

Lawsy icee, I don't know.

I only buy one kind. Let me check my fridge and get back to you.

okay icee, I am out of horseradish right now but the kind I buy is in a tall cylander type glass container (think 1/2 of a Tom Collins glass) with a blue label. Is this ringing a bell?

I'll check the Pig on the way home from the gym. I have to stop anyway and get horseradish because I'm thinking about having an oyster roast Monday night.

You do have my cocktail sauce recipe?

Mix equal parts horseradish and catsup and squeeze a fresh lemon into the mix.

ParrotMom, my family does horseradish the same way. Actually for years we made it on the back porch at my Mom's in Chicago, it's like a FLorida room and you can open all the screens/windows. It is a killer on your eyes if you don't get some good ventilation going.
