hot air balloons

Has anyone taken a hot air balloon ride in New Mexico? What is the cost and what is a good company?

I certainly have, its disgusting rip off, although the views are superb! i would recommend not going with Los Balloonos, they are just out for money, hope this helps

Now we know what it takes to get Jesus to post on Fodors.
An unhappy Hot Air Balloon Ride.

Speaking of hot air balloons, I think a couple of them are on trips right now, but I am sure we will get a trip report when they return :D

We had a balloon ride out of Albuquerque during the Fiesta a few years ago. It was absolutely magical. The price at the time was about $150 per person but I would imagine it has gone up by now. I can't remember the name of the company, but probably if you look at the Balloon Fiesta website there are some links to recommended companies. If you have this opportunity, don't miss it!

I could be wrong.

Jesus already has His own hot air balloon - I saw it at the Balloon Fiesta one year! It was kinda tacky IMO :-D

gsidell, try www.balloonfiesta.com for recommendations. I think rides cost at least $150 per person, though I'm not sure since my dislike of heights has kept me from trying one.

I ordered a gift certificate for my dad through here, http://www.800soaring.com/. Says they have 200 locations to pick a ride from. Included with the certificate was the info for ballon rides in his area. He had a great time and company he went with handled everything very safely.

I've ballooned several times in ABQ with Rainbow Ryders. All my experiences have been very enjoyable and safe.

Someone also mentioned 800 soaring. I've used them in Texas with good results too.

Be sure to take WAY TOO MUCH film (or disc space) with you. The view is superb!
