Hospital in Cooperstown?

Hi! I'm doing some research for friends and one of them will be in Cooperstown with family. She's older and would feel better if she knew she was relatively close to a hospital "just in case," I've looked around and haven't been able to find anything. Anyone know if there is and if so, approx. how many miles away from downtown Cooperstown please? Thank you.

You'll be happy to know Bassett is a great hospital and is known throughout NY state as having a good reputation.I work in a hospital so I know.

Let me add to her anxiety - while know nothing about above mentioned hospital, I will assume she will be traveling by car to Cooperstown. By highway to Cooperstown one must pass through some lightly populated areas, often on Interstates with many miles between exits and few facilities when you do get to an exit. What does she plan to do if the "just in case" happens on her trip to or from?

Thank you all whistler162 & kalmia for your prompt and kind responses. Concerning the lack of exits, I don't know how many miles there are between the exits you discussed, as you didn't say but you deal with things as they come. She wanted to know about hospitals when she got THERE but THAT she can control - as in, "I'll take myself there if I need it." As opposed to, she's between exits and has an emergency. I think she's smart to be cautious. If you can be a bit more helpful re: the approx. number of miles between exits, it would be appreciated. Thank you whistler & kalmia.

Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown is an excellent hospital. Over the years, both my parents have recieved care there - and we lived over two hours away. Their doctors sent them there for specialists, etc. Up until just a few years ago, my 88 year old dad still went there for his physical exams.

I spoke with my friends and their TA (tentatively) has them landing in Albany and driving 155 South which connects to I87 South to SR20 West until SR 80 South. I don't know how much access THOSE roads have to exits for facilities, but if anyone knows, would appreciate a follow up on this as this is new information I have gotten from them. Also, the TA has them tentatively at BEST WESTERN INN & SUITES AT 50 COMMONS DRIVE. Now, they might end up staying at the RESORT (forget the name- Oteanga? or something like that)..but just in case. Anyone familiar with whether this hotel is seedy or in a bad area or what please? Thank you so much.

I believe you are referring to the Otesaga Hotel. It is in the heart of historical Cooperstown on Otesaga Lake. I have never stayed there but it looks beautiful. Check it out at www.otesaga.com. I would much rather stay there than a Best Western if I had a choice.
The Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown is excellent. It is a good idea to know where the medical facilities are when away from home...."just in case"....especially if you have kidney stones camping out waiting to have some fun. I always check!

Sorry for the error. Otesaga Hotel is on Otsego Lake not Otesaga Lake.
