horseback riding on Maui

Hello,

We will be in Maui next March and would like to do some horseback riding. Do you have any suggestions for a company and should we go for a day ride, sunset ride, or go thru the crater? thanks

We chose to do the horseback ride in the crater rather than do the sunrise thing at the crack of dawn. (We were staying in a Villa that had magnificant sunrises, but we wanted the crater experience. I would definitely reccommened the crater ride. The horses walked down, the view was spectcular, the lunch not bad, and we had intermittent trots going back up. The views and experience were magnificent.

What company did you go with?

I had a very nice two hour sunset ride with Makena Stables south of Kihei. Excellent horses and wonderful guide (the owner). Rode way up above the water (outer slopes of Haleakala) and saw deer.

another vote for Makena Stables! went at sunset (which was a nonevent since it was cloudy) and loved every minute. gorgeous horses, wonderful people.
