Do you know where you're staying in that area? I would place a call to them and ask them if they would know of a horseback riding company.

We really wanted to do some riding in Alaska, but couldn't find anywhere that offered it. Someone finally told us that between the weather and the wildlife, it just isn't done up there.
I don't know if that is true or they were pulling our leg.

let us know if you find any place. We may try again next year.

I don't have personal experience. A google search turned up this:
http://www.horserentals.com/alaska.html

One of the outfits offers a strenuous mountain ride and expects people to be in good physical condition. There are horses in Alaska and have been since gold rush and homesteading years.
