Hoover Dam - Dam tour or Power plant tour

We will be in LV in a couple weeks and will be visiting the Hoover Dam for the first time. Should we do just the Power Plant tour, or is the Dam tour worth the extra time and money? $11 vs. $30 per person. Thanks

The dam tour is worth the extra money for sure. We really enjoyed it.

We did the Dam tour and thought it was really neat, but I'm an engineer haha so I like those sorts of things! Either way the Hoover Dam is awesome.

The whole dam place is amazing.
Since the completion of the bridge, this has to be one of America's must sees.

Enjoyed both....and it's worth the extra time to drive the new bridge. The view of the dam is incredible!

How long does it take to both tours? And, can you make reservations or do you just take your chances? Our visit is in mid to late June.

You don't need to do both tours, it's the "full dam tour" that you want that covers the shorter power plant tour and then goes into the dam itself. At least iirc.

The full tour is the one where they give you the yellow hard hats to wear, and it takes about an hour. There are no advance reservations according to the website.

So, buy no ticket until you arrive, right? I've seen advance tickets for the power plant.

Yes, just buy your ticket at the ticket booth in the main lobby area.
