Honor Mansion
 

Has anyone stayed in the tower suite or seen it? I am curious what it is like. I am deciding between that room at the Honor Mansion or Duchamp Hotel or Carneros Inn (although in a completely different area). i am confused from reading too many reviews!

I have stayed at many fine inns throughout the US. The Honor mansion is absolutelty one of the finest places you can find anywhere. The service is amazing. They tend to every detail you can possibly imagine and more. Beautiful surroundings, awesome 3 course breakfasts and service service service. I am so spoiled now after staying at HM in 2001 that it is hard to enjoy anyplace else.

I am posting a follow up to my original question - we stayed at the Honor Mansion and it was great. To tell you the truth, we basically ate breakfast there (which is to die for! amazing!) and then went to the wineries all day - so we didn't spend too much time using the facilities. But it was great how it felt like you are staying at your own private house (we stayed in one of the cottages) and it was so central to everywhere we wanted to go. they were so nice there and it was just a great experience. I would recommend the B&B, hands down.

Thanks for the review. I was deciding between a few properties in Sonoma and you helped me make the decision. I am going to call them now.

I assume by now you've already made the reservation, but I do think the Honor Mansion is a better choice than Duchamp. We didn't see the Tower Room, but did stay in one of the cottages for two nights in Oct. of this year. Some of the rooms are a bit on the snug side, and the inn is very expensive....but extremely well done with great attention to detail. Loved being able to get a cappuccino when we got in from dinner late in the evenings! The breakfasts were terrific and VERY filling! We stayed at Duchamp in May of 2003 and found it a bit sterile for our taste--and little to no shade around the pool area which, when it's hot, makes it not very inviting. While you're there, check out the Hotel Healdsburg right on the Plaza--we stayed there last year and much preferred it to Duchamp, but it was fully booked this year. Lovely pool area, but I must say we also very much enjoyed our stay at Honor Mansion (only downside was that you could at times hear and see the traffic on Hwy 101--but I don't think you'll have that problem in the Water Tower). Try to have lunch at Bistro Ralph on the Plaza as it's wonderful.

I also loved the Hotel Healdsburg, www.hotelhtealdsburg.com They are now offering a room with the tasting dinner at Dry Creek Kitchen for $322/night. We loved lounging by the pool, the water is heated just right and there is a spa on-site also.

Our room was upgraded upon check-in to a deluxe King with a balcony and very nice 6' soaking tub that was wonderful. Also, a very nice buffet breakfast set out in the am by the glowing fire. ***kim*** :)
