Honolulu Restaurants/Must See
 

My wife and I are going to Honolulu and Kauai this December for the first time. Any information on restaurants and things that are a must, would be appreciated.

Eat at Sam Choys in Waikiki. It is fantastic. Other than that stay out of Waikiki and drive up to the north shore and see the real beauty of Hawaii. feel free to Email me with ????s Ive been a few times to both Kauai and Oahu

I was there in june and found a incredible italian restaurant called "Trattoria". WoW, this place is a must! <BR> <BR>TRATTORIA. Dine where the celebrities eat-Trattoria's photo wall features Joan Rivers, Jim Nabors, Don Ho, and Pat Morita, among others. The ambiance of Trattoria's villa-like setting is enhanced by frescoes on the walls and ceiling. Dinner nightly from 5:30 p.m., earlybird special available 5:30-6:30 p.m. Valet parking in front of the restaurant. Edgewater Hotel, 2168 Kalia Rd. (808) 923-8415. <BR> <BR> <BR>

Honolulu <BR> <BR>restaurants <BR>- Ciao Mein at the Hyatt Regency hotel (Waikiki) is an excellent chinese/italian fusion. <BR>- A Pacific Cafe, Ala Moana Blvd. <BR>- Roy's (especially the chocolate soufle). <BR> <BR>things that are a must: <BR>- Pearl Harbour and the USS Bowfin submarine. <BR>- The Polynesian Cultural Centre (we went there expecting it to be crass, but it was very well done - and the food at the Luau was good). <BR>- Waimea Valley (good insight into native plants and agriculture). <BR>- Hanauma Bay (may be crowded - get there early - but easiest way to get close to lots of fish without eating them...). <BR>- Kailua Bay (really nice beach - good kayaking). <BR> <BR>Kauai <BR> <BR>restaurants <BR>- Roy's, Poipu (again) <BR>- A Pacific Cafe, Kapaa (again and again...) <BR>- Postcards, Hanalei (vegetarian and seafood - pretty place). <BR>- Duke's Canoe club at the Marriot was fairly good too. <BR> <BR>things that are a must <BR>- Waimea Canyon (spectacular) <BR>- Hanalei (beautiful bay - kayak down river and around bay). <BR>- Kauai Movie Tours (entertaining way of seeing the island - where lots of movies have been made, such as Jurassic Park). <BR>- Helicopter tour (best way of seeing the spectacular scenery of the Na Pali coast).

You will no doubt find many, many responses on this forum for your question. So here's my simple suggestion for you honeymooners to do once: <BR> <BR>One of the most romantic things I've done is grab a box lunch with my boyfriend and sit on the beach wall to watch the sunset. Don't forget to watch for the green flash!

Rob, <BR>Here are a few restaurants we enjoyed in Honolulu this August: <BR> <BR>Cafe Miro-charming, small, French restaurant. Reasonably priced (three course meal was about $28). It's a husband and wife team and they do it all.(Japanese, trained in Paris) Reservations encouraged as it is popular with the locals. <BR> <BR>Cafe Montserrat-open for lunch and dinner. Very colorful spot with an eclectic menu that leans towards Spanish. Reasonable also. Voted Best New Restaurant by one of the Honolulu papers. Small spot. <BR> <BR>Indigo- in Chinatown. Fabulous setting and food . Fusion cuisine, very hip spot, interesting decor ( lily ponds, waterfalls, cozy corner tables, you're inside but outside under umbrellas). Lively bar scene. Reservations <BR> <BR>Sam Choy's Breakfast, Lunch, and Crab--great place for lunch. HUGE portions, very busy, noisy, family place.
